Meet Carmen, the award-winning STUNNING Redwood Metallic 1983 Volvo 244 GL that just landed here at Auslander. We will be updating Carmen’s bio here over the course of the next several weeks, so check back periodically. For now, we’ll tell you what we DO know: this thing is a serious catch.

We purchased the car from it’s original owner, Dave, photographed to the right with the late Irv Gordon. Dave purchased the car new in 1983, and has held on to it as his weekend driver. Dave had a number of nice cars in his fleet, but decided that it was time to thin the herd and make some space in his garage, which you could tell wasn’t an easy decision to make, threatening to cry if he saw it driving away.

The car has been treated like a museum piece, but for anyone in the know, a 240 doesn’t make a great museum piece, they need to move. Good news, the original owner drove the car regularly, and showed it at several VCOA events over the past 35+ years.

Records, records, records… we have everything down to the business card of the salesman who sold the car, window sticker, every receipt, everything, so well-documented, yes— the ideal candidate for an Auslander car, one with the records to back up the pedigree. As a GL, the car is already unique, but also features several rare upgrades curated by the original owner over the course of its life, so that only sweetens the package.

We performed restoration work on the interior, namely to the drivers seat which needed some leather repair, but if you know how we roll, the interior was SPOTLESS when we were through, maintaining the originality of that OE leather in as great a way as possible!

We ALWAYS encourage folks who are interested in our vehicles to reach out to us at any time! This one may be gone, but we have plenty on the way!
