So many folks ask about this car’s story… with only 5,000 miles, surely it must have one, right? It does, and no, I didn’t just call you Shirley.

Holland was purchased on 4/29/89 by its first owner, William Galt, of Boca Raton, FL from Kjell Bergh’s Borton Volvo of Delray Beach, FL. William purchased the car for his wife, who then passed away unexpectedly a couple of months later. In remembrance of her, William held on to the vehicle until his passing at 100 years of age. Close family friends of Mr. Galt inherited his car collection, which included Holland, and moved it to their home in Michigan. In late 2019, the family asked if we’d be interested in adopting the vehicle. It is perfection in the truest sense, a testament of Volvo quality and a timeless piece of art we hope to soon find its way into a museum or private collection— there are many discussions underway, but damn it will this one be hard to let go of.

As you can see in the photos below, Holland needed almost nothing. There was some light damage to the chrome on the roofrack from prolonged setting of bird poop, but we re-plated the roofrack. Aside from that, everything was top notch— the rear jumpseat is even still in its factory plastic wrapping! Holland’s paint is flawless… that’s all there is to say, flawless, as is the interior, which smells new; there’s no way to describe it, the interior scent of this vehicle is awe-inspiring. These photos speak for themselves… you’re looking at the most perfect example of the Volvo 240 wagon in the United States, and according to Volvo’s corporate historian in Sweden, Lars Gerdin, Holland is also the lowest mileage Volvo 240 on record in the United States.

Holland has been sold to an amazing Volvo-enthusiast couple and has gone on to its next chapter… we expect it will live the good life!
